 R. W. Furr Clothiers was founded in 1971 in Dallas, Texas, by R. W. "Rex" Furr, who learned the arts of cutting and design from an instructor of the famed Fashion Tailoring Institute in New York. Soon after earning a college degree in marketing, Mr. Furr successfully devised a manufacturing 
system for shirts, then began making trousers and suits as well, because of
a desire to control the quality he could offer clients. For classic quality
that lasts, he created his own silhouette, the hallmark of an R. W. Furr
suit.
"I got into the custom apparel business because I always liked selling men's clothing," Mr. Furr explains, "but the best clients were in their offices and were not shoppers. I decided to take my product right to them." R. W. Furr founded the Marketing Institute of Progressive Clothiers, a national sales training organization for direct clothing salesmen with over 150 members, and served as a sales consultant to Norman Hilton, Joseph A. Banks, and John H. Daniel Co. Mr. Furr also founded Quick-Fit, a successful alteration company. |
